In this view，we introduce the structure and distribution of? orexin and its receptors，and those factors involved in modulating the effects of orexin and its receptors.The main effects of influences that orexin on feeding behavior，sleep/wakefulness states，emotion，reward，and energy homeostasis and autonomic nervous system are discussed and the mechanisms by which orexin regulates general anaesthesia are also focused o
