The globalization of the world economy, China’s entry to WTO and the fast development of the internet and information communication technology make the cross-cultural communication of advertising possible. Advertising translation is of great significance in tapping the global market for products under the circumstance of globalization of world economy. Advertising translation,as a type of Cross-cultural communication and a new field of study, is receiving more and more attention.The Chinese advertisements should be translated into target language with appropriate strategy to meet the needs and expectations of the consumers.So the advertising translation plays a very important role in the development of economy.However, the translation from English to Chinese is far from our satisfaction.It still stays at a very low level. This paper pays more attention on the methods and characteristics of advertising translation and emphasizes the importance of advertising translation from Cross-cultural communication. It combines modern western translation theory and the definition and function of advertising language. It aims at exploring the skills of advertising translation from Cross-cultural perspective through the understanding of Cross-cultural communication and advertising translation.
