S ta te K ey L aboratory of H eavy Oil Pr o essing , China Univ er sity of Petroleum , Dong ying 257061, China) Abstr ct: T he effects of quinoline and indole on the hydrodesulfurization ( HDS) reactivity and reaction routes of dibenzothio hene ( DBT ) w ere studied over NiMoS/ Al2 O3 catalyst in a fixedbed high ressure microreactor. T he results show ed that both quinoline and indole could inhibit the HDS reaction of DBT . T hey inhibited the hydrogenation route of DBT HDS strongly even at low nitrogen concentration. While the inhibition for the direct desulfurization route only could be seen w hen the nitrogen concentration increased. The inhibition of quinoline on DBT HDS w as stronger than that of indole. The analysis of the roducts in hydrodenitrogenation ( HDN) reaction of quinoline and indole suggested that their inhibition on DBT HDS w as closely related to their
