Abstract As Chinese is becoming famous around the world, more and more foreigners are going to learn Chinese. Only school training is not enough for all the different people with different purposes. Thats why a great many of Chinese training institutions are come into existence , especially in big cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. New things are always full of energy but insufficiency at the same time. The institutions are lacking of teaching system, and classes are random compare to school class. The training institutions are for every walk of life, so they have to set up one-to-one class mode in order to meet different demand at the most degree. But one-to-one class mode has a huge different with the traditional class. It may be a challenge to the teachers who work there without professional knowledge. Its difficult to teach the grammar, just take separate-word for example. So I attempt to explore how to improve this situation by using the theory and skill that is available to the teaching. In my thesis I connect my teaching experience with the language theory, aim at finding the methods that can be used for the one-to-one mode class. In the past the academe is entangled by the denominate and compartmentalize of separate-word, so is the traditional teaching, they pay excessively attention on the knowledge and neglect the pragmatic of language. But in my thesis I steer clear of the dispute and pay attention to the pragmatic Chinese in order to study for the purpose of application. In this thesis I try to find the shortcoming of the training institutions by analyzing the training market, give prominence to the teaching especially the teaching of separate-word and try to find methods adapt to one-to-one mode cl
