A Retrospective Study on the Differentiation of Symptoms and Signs in Chronic Severe Hepatitis B Postgraduate: Peng Zhongping Tutor: Prof. Xiong Yan Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Changsha, China 4 10007 ABSTRACT Objective: To explore the regulation of differentiation of symptoms and signs in chronic severe hepatitis B, to make a useful attempt for the ultimate establishment of the standard. Methods: Through literature research, expert advice and early pre-survey, we schemed out the medical history questionnaire, then made a retrospective investigation on chronic severe hepatitis B patients’ medical records in the past five years, from the first affiliated hospital of Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM), the affiliated hospital of Hunan Institute of TCM, TCM hospital in Zhuzhou city of Hunan province. The total number of cases came to 300. We collected the general information and TCM symptom-sign, put the quantified TCM symptom-sign (including the symptoms of the tongue and pulse) into the computer as syndrome variables, established the SPSS database. The general information was analysed with descriptive statistics; the regulated syndrome variables were analysed with sample cluster statistics.
