National Engineering Research Center for Urban Pollution Control, T ongji Universit , Shanghai 200092, China ) Abstract:The nanoparticle plat inum coat ed titanium electrode was prepared using t he method of electrochemical cathodic reduction followed b anodic ox idation . The surface microstructure of electrode has demonstrated that platinum particles dispersed in the threedimensional network of channels of the titanium oxide film w ere in the supperfine and welldis tributed state. The nanoparticle platinum electrode owned plent of active points and w ell electrocatal tic propert based on the exposed platinum particles w ith ver small diameters. Electrochemical behaviors of two kinds of platinum elec trode for methanol has been performed through C clic Voltammetr . The results have showed that the nanoparticle plat inum electrode had a much better electrocatal tic propert for methanol than smooth plat inum electrode in acidic, neutral or alkaline medium. The ox idation current densities on nanoparticle platinum electrode are over 100 times of that on smooth platinum electrode. Furt hermore, the values of average current efficienc on nanoparticle platinum electrode a
