Abstract: A dig ital smi ulation m odel of SS8 electric locom otive is bu ilt w ith MATLAB S IMULINK. The
subsmi u lation m odu les including assistant loop and heating loop are bu ilt based on smi ilar princ ip le and
load characteristics com ponentbased m ethods. The total locom otive m odel is presented by colligation.
S mi ulation resu lts indicate that the m odel has better ab ility to represent the locom otive total load charac
ter istics, wh ich can be used in pow er system smi u lation and analyses.
