Teaching-contents:
1 Learn some new words and one or two phrases.
2 Get the main idea about the text.
3 Get to know the growth of the giant pandas
Teaching –aims:
Knowledge aims: Teach them some new words and phrases in the text and practice using them in daily life
Ability aims: Let the students get some information about giant pandas, and learn more about them.
Emotional aims: Educate the students to love giant pandas and protect them better.
Important and difficult teaching points:
1 Learn more knowledge about the giant pandas. For example: where they live, how they grow up and what they eat ……?
2 Grasp the new words and phrases and their usages.
Teaching –tools:
Tape-recorder, teaching pictures
Teaching procedures:
Step one : Free talk
T: Boys and girls, I want to be friends with you. Do you like to make friends with me?
S: Yes, we do.
T: That’s good! As your friend, I want to know more about you. Then do you like watching TV?
S: Yes, we do.
T: Then have you ever seen the colorful programmes on New Year’s Eve on TV?
S Yes, we have.
T: Then have you ever heard “Tuantuan” and “Yuanyuan”?
S: Yes, we have.
T: Then can you tell me anything about them?
SA: They are giant pandas
SB: They will go to Taiwan..
SC: Their favorite food is ‘竹笋’.
T: That’s great! ‘竹笋’ in English is bamboo shoot. (learn this word)
Do you want to know more about them? Do you want to see them with your own eyes?
S: Yes, we do.
T: Ok, now I will show you some pictures about them
Step two: Report
Show the students some pictures about Tuantuan and Yuanyuan.
T: You see, they are very happy, and they are very lovely. Do you want to know more about the giant pandas?
S: Yes, we do.
T: Ok, now I will give you a short report about the giant pandas. (the teacher asks one of the students to act as the reporter )
