Abstract To explore the separation effects of coarse coal slime with the pulsating liquid-solid fl uidized bed
and seek the best pulsing fl ow waveform, the paper conducted the test for pulsing fl ow condition at constant
fl ow as well as various vibration amplitude and frequency. And then, it analyzed the separation effects and
product characteristics of the liquid-solid fl uidized bed before and after introducing the pulsation, and studied
the separation mechanism of pulsating flow in combination with particle dynamics equation. The results
showed the best separation indexes involving ash content of 15.55% and yield of 77.47% were obtained by
applying the pulsating fl ow with small vibration amplitude and high frequency. Compared with the separation
