What about your peers, co-workers and customers? Do you really know? This is an interesting topic and one that is near and dear to my heart, mainly due to the fact that a close business friend of mine just went through a pretty traumatic [[traʊmætɪk] adj. 外伤的;创伤的] experience at work. The upshot of the situation was he thought he was doing a great job, and his manager did not, yet there had never been any dialogue between them to indicate there was a problem. My friend only found this out because he (at his own cost) initiated a checkpoint 360 assessment with his manager, peers, co-workers and customers. When the perception report came back it was clear that he and his manager were not on the same page as to how they both felt he was performing. iCareer ·iLife 9-Nov-14 The report led to a much needed meeting between the two and he has now developed a personal development plan which his manager is in agreement with and supportive of. Perception is reality. In the absence of information, we make up our own. If your company does not conduct any type of regular performance reviews and if your manager does not provide you with any regular feedback or coaching, what are you to do other than make the assumption that your performance is satisfactory? Otherwise your manager would tell you, right? Wrong! An important part of any management or leadership role is obtaining feedback from all groups that they service or interact with. This kind of
