M ethod s 　H ou ttuy n ia corda ta injection s from six differen t factorie s were determ ined by ga s chrom atograp hy ( GC ) and ga s ch rom atograp hym a ss sp ectra ( GCM S) , and GC fingerp rin ts were cla ssified by h ierarch ical clu stering. The an tiinflamm atory activity of H ou ttuy n ia corda ta injection s wa s characterized through the rat p leu risy model induced by carrageen in and the m ice ear edem a model by dim ethylbenzene. Re sults　The an tiinflamm atory effect of the injection s from the first cla ss factorie s on the two model wa s sign ifican t, wh ile tho se from the second cla ss not. GCM S analysis re su lt indicated that m ain effect compound s in H ou ttuy n ia corda ta injection s are m ethyl β β n nonyl ketone, decanoylacetaldehyde, lau ryl aldehyde, cap ryl aldehyde, p inene, linaloo l,
