教学重难点:
1.重点:如何在听的过程中获取有用信息。
2.难点:I’m going to watch the lion dance.
There will be fireworks in Chinatown.
Speak up
Step 1. Revision: Talk about their favourite festival.
T: Which is your favourite festival?
When is it?
Why do you like it?
What do you do at the festival?
What do you eat at the festival?
Step 2. Lead-in
T: You have told me about your favourite festival. Millie and Sandy are talking about their favourtie day in the year.
Step 3. Listening
T: Listen to the tape with the following questions.
(1). Which is Millie’s favourite day in the year?
(2). When is it?
(3).Why does she like it?
(4). Who gives her the presents?
Step 4. Reading
Ask the students to listen to the tape and read after it. Then ask them to read it in pairs.
Step 5. Talking about their own favourite day in the year.
Ask the students to make a new dialogue like the model.
Part A. Chinese New Year celebrations
Step 1. Presentation
Free talk about Chinese New Year and present the new words with some pictures.
Step 2. Reading the poster
Ask the students to read the poster carefully and answer the following questions:
(1). What activities will they have?
(2). When and where will they celebrate Chinese New Year?
Step 3. Let the students get as much information as they can and fill the tableon page 50.
Step 4. Listening
T: You can not get all the information from the poster to complete the table. Now listen to the radio program on New York Radio. Try to complete the table.
Then check the answers in pairs.
Step 5. Reading
Ask the students to read the postcard.
Step 6. Writing
Suppose you are Millie. Write a poster to Wendy and tell her what you do for Chinese New Year in Beijing.
