Teaching aims and demands:
Knowledge aims:
To learn the words: thin, square, handsome, cheerful.
To learn some useful expressions.
Ability aims:
To enable the Ss to use the adjectives to describe a person’s appearance.
To enable the Ss to tell the adjectives between the boys and girls.
Moral ability:
To make the Ss learn happily and freely.
Teaching emphasis and difficulties:
Use the adjectives to describe a person’s appearance.
Grasp some adjectives for both boys and girls.
Teaching steps:
Step1: Revision
1.Ask and answer according to the text.
(1). What is Betty, Max and May?
(2). What kind of friend is Betty, Max and May?
2. Ask and answer between the Ss.
(1). Who do you like to choose as your best friend?
(2). Can you tell us something about your best friend?
Step2: Presentation
1. Show some of the students’ photos to the class and ask who he/ she is.
What’s the boys /girls like?
How old is he/ she at that time?
Who do you think he/ she is ?
Then lead the Ss to describe people’s appearance with the adjectives learned.
2. The teacher shows parts of a body’s picture to the Ss and ask the Ss to describe the shapes . height, faces, eyes and hair.
Build: slim, thin, fat, strong.
Height: short, tall.
Face: fat, thin, square, round.
Hair: long, short, straight, shoulder—length, brown, black.
3. The teacher lets the Ss say the parts of their bodies.
4. Let the Ss to use the suitable adjectives to describe the boys and girls.
Boys: good—looking, smart, clever, handsome, funny, strong.
Girls: beautiful, good---looking, lovely,. pretty, smart, slim,
Step3: Practise
The teacher guides the Ss to finish the Exercises A and B.
Group discussion: Talk about their own appearance and personality.
Step4: Play a game
Just guess: Who is he/ she?
I have a good friend. He is a student of mine. He comes
