Planning, Coordination and Collaboration A. Statutory Requirements 1. The State must conduct public hearings, after appropriate and sufficient notice, for the purpose of affording all segments of the public and interested organizations and groups (including charter school authorizers and organizers consistent with State law, employers, labor organizations, parents, students, and community organizations), an opportunity to present their views and make recommendations regarding the State Plan. [Section 122(a)(3)] The New York State Education Department (NYSED) conducted an extensive process to elicit public input to the State Plan. Public hearings were conducted, after appropriate and sufficient notice, for the purpose of affording all segments of the public and interested organizations and groups (including charter school authorizers and organizers consistent with state law, employers, labor organizations, parents, students, and community organizations), an opportunity to present their views and make recommendations regarding the State Plan.
