A bstrac t: To develop m atrix m aterialw ith self-lubricating ab ility for mi pregnated diam ond b it, researchw asm ade on add-i
tion of graphite pow er to conventionalm atrix form ula. The bend ing strength, hardness, wear resistance and friction coeff-i
cient (w ith 60# wh ite corundum grinding wheel as counter) ofm atrix m aterialsw ere tested; the topography ofw ear surfaces
w as analyzedw ith scann ing electric m icroscope. The test resu lts show ed that the bend ing strength and hardness of m atrix
m aterial declined w ith graphite pow der add ing and the friction coefficient decreased w ith 60# wh ite corundum grind ing
whee;l wh ile wearing resistance increased at first w ith graph ite content increasing, then decreased when the content of
graph ite exceeded 610% . M orphology analysis indicated that conventionalm atrix m aterialproduced obviousp lastic deform-
ation inw earing and the p lasticity of m atrixm aterial declinedw ith graph ite adding, and furrow w ears and flak ing appeared.
