The element contents of biofilms and s spended partic lates in the nat ral aq atic ecosystem were st died, and the samples were collected in K nming Lake of the S mmer Palace in J ly and October 1999.The biofilm sam- ples w ere observed thro gh microscope and scanning electron microscope.Vario s inhabitants s ch as sessile bac- teria, algae, and protozoa existed in the biofilms.The dry weights of biofilms increased with the longer grow th period.The dry w eight of biofilm at 1 m depth of w ater reached to 5.19 mg·cm-2 af ter the growth time of 78 days.The element contents in biofilm, s spended partic late, and lake water w ere analyzed by ICP-AES, and
