EXPRESSION OF GFAP AND FGFRS IN ASTROCYTES IN RATS WITH NEUROPATHIC PAIN

Abstract Objective: To observe the expresssion of glial fi brillary acidic protein (GFAP) and the fi broblast
growth factor receptor 1 ~ 4 (FGFR1 ~ 4) in dorsal horn in rats with neruopathic pain. Methods: 40 male
SD rats weighing 180 ~ 200 g were randomly divided into 2 groups (n = 20): sham and SNI. The change of
rats mechanical pain threshold was measured at 1, 3, 5 and 7 day after operation by von Frey hairs. The L4
~ L6 spinal cord were taken to measure GFAP activation and mRNA expression level respectively by laser
scanning confocal microscope and real time PCR. The mRNA expression of FGFRs was detected by real
time PCR. Results: Compared with sham group, the threshold to mechanical hyperalgesia of SNI group
decreased sharply, GFAP positive cells increased remarkably, the GFAP mRNA increased remarkably
