Department of Geography,East hina Normal University,Shanghai 200062, hina) Abstract: Science and technology was one of the mainmeasuresof modern agricultural development,and estimating quantitatively contribute rate of agricultural science and technology progress ( RASTP) would help to determine the target of agricultural development.This paper measured and analyzed RASTP in Hubei Province based on space- time angle by Solo growth model from 1986- 2009.The result indicatedthat: ¹ RASTP was decreasing fluctuating in Hubei,and it obviously took on characteristics of different stages. RASTP of / the Eighth Five- year0 ,/ the Ninth Five- year0 ,/ the Tenth Five- year0 and/ the eleventh Five- year0 periods was 24. 33% , 39.50% ,67.20% and 54. 00% respectively in Hubei.The policy and institutional environment obviously influenced on RASTP; º RASTP was outstanding difference among regions. RASTP in Wuhan and Enshi was 64.73% and 22. 05% respectively. RASTP was closely related with regional economic development level,market development degree and natural condition.The conclusions helped to make policies of promoting modern agriculture development in Hubei.
