Material s and methods: 35 set s of cadaver heads were cut int o serial slices f or studying the shape, siz e and adj acent relationships of Meckel cave and t rigeminal ganglion. Meanwhile, t he head MR s of 103 n ormal adults with pre- cont rast and those of 36 with post- contrast were compared wit h t he corresponding sect ions for st ructures and statistics. R esults: Meckel cave is a dural recess extending f rom the post erior fossa into the medial post erior portion of t he middle cranial fossa, within it lies the trigeminal ganglion and its cistern. On t ransverse and coronal T1 - wei hted ima es, Meckel cave shows an oval h ointense si nal, g g yp g and the tri eminal an lion shows a dot , st ri e or small focus of h erintense si nal which is seen on 34% g g g p yp g of t he ima es.
