China) Abstract : Through a series of laboratory and in - situ tests on the cement treated soil and research on the effect of wa ter during cement treated soil hardening , the author analyzes the factors which influence the mechanical properties of cement treated soil and pays more attention to the effect of water content , and reveals that the comprehensive water content plays a key role during cement treated soil consolidating. The conclusion can be drawn that , to the saturated soft clay of Shanghai , the strength of cement treated soil can be increased by only improving the construction procedure and controlling comprehen sive water content , but without adding the dosage of cement .
