A tentative research of backwash of formative assessment (involving self-assessment, peer-assessment and teacher-assessment) to self-access learning is conducted and a 14-week experimental project is designed and implemented in an experimental class attended by 30 non-English majors in a university in Tianjin. The contrastive analysis is made with the class adopting
