A Research on Interactive Teaching Model of Economics in American Colleges and Universities under the Concept of General Education I. Planned Research Topic and Research Status at Home and Abroad This research plans to rely on “A Study of Interactive Teaching Model of Economics based on General Education - with a comparison between American Colleges and Universities”, a higher-education research project in Beijing, with the applicant as the host of this project. This research topic is “A Research on Interactive Teaching Model of Economics in American Colleges and Universities under the Concept of General Education”. The research status at home and abroad is summarized as follows: (1) Researches on general education There are many researches on the general education of universities in foreign countries. One is the historical research on general education made by Bowen, Rudolph, etc. In 1996, American Scholars Union selected 50 influential colleges and universities to make a comparison on the general education course, and the report achieved a great impact. The second one is the research on the connotation of current general education made by Peter Stema, W.Brock MaDcnoald, etc., which was selected as the basis of course. Since “the cultural quality education” was proposed in 1994, the scholars in China have made lots of researches on general education. Yinghui Cai held the opinion that we should conduct reform from the curriculum system and structure. Hui Xu and Chengjun Ji made a comparison among colleges and universities in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Mingdong Huang and Huimin Feng discussed other implementation methods. General Education - A Concept of College Education written by Manli Li was the first monograph studying general education in China. Junjie Huang, a scholar from Taiwan, specially wrote a chapter of “Investigation Report of General Education in American Colleges and Universities” in Theory and Practice of College General Education.
