Lean Enterprise
Definitions
- Lean Enterprise is, in it’s most basic form, the systematic elimination of waste, and
the implementation of the concepts of “Continuous Flow”and “Customer Pull”.
- It is a philosophy of supply chain efficiency which, when implemented, shortens the
time between customer order and factory shipment.
General Characteristics
- Uninterrupted flow of materials from suppliers to customers
- Close to 100 percent first time through
- Optimal size of inventories stock located at appropriate points in the supply chain
- Standardized Work Flows
- Leads the industry in value added time activities throughout the supply chain
- E.g. Toyota, Herman Miller, Bank?
