Phrasal Verbs and Idioms to identify with somebody/something To believe that you feel you understand and can share the feelings of another person eg: I wonder if any of the Bob and Rob Show listeners identify with them? to identify somebody with something / someone To be of the opinion that someone is something or at least closely connected with someone or something eg: Im pretty sure none of the Bob and Rob Show listeners want to be identified with them. to identify something with something To be of the opinion that something is the same as something else eg: democracy is often identified with freedom. to identify yourself with something / be identified with something To be closely connected with someone or something or to support something or someone eg: the new leader did not want to be identified with the old regime. IDIOM: a know-it-all Someone who thinks they know everything eg: That guys such a know-it-all, he thinks hes a genius. BONUS IDIOM: to be big headed (adjective) / a big head (noun) egotistical, thinking one self is superior to others. Similar to know-it-all eg: I wonder how he can get through the door- hes such a big head. Word Power family name / surname Full name = complete name given name = personal name initials = eg Rob Rabbinis initials are RR (so are the initials of Rolls Royce) maiden name = a womans family name before marriage but some women are keeping their names and having double-barreled names: eg Hilary Rodham Clinton (Rodham is her maiden name) middle name Note: it is common for Americans to use middle initials and titles such as junior or the third (written as III).
