It provides the background study to international business activity. In Topic 1 we review international trade theory and the role of government and trade policies. In Topic 2 we review the nature and operation of international business and the evolution of the multinational enterprise and globalisation. Topic 3 examines the international monetary system that underpins global business. It includes the role of government institutions in their regulation and support for the operation of international financial markets in a world with multiple trading currencies. A comment on the recent global financial crisis is also undertaken in Topic 3. It provides a critical focus on the importance of the proper functioning and management of our international monetary system. MODULE2 Foreign Exchange Markets Module 2 is split into two topics. In Topic 4 we examine the nature and operation of foreign exchange markets. We also examine a number of well know theories used to explain the determination of exchange rates that are in turn used to predict future exchange rate movements. In Topic 5 we examine the nature and use of a range of derivative instruments related to exchange and interest rates that are found in the global financial markets.
