200 27 2002, l 7 160 Foreign Languages and Their Teaching Serial l 160 语境层次理论与翻译研究* 尚媛媛 ( 中山大学外国语学院, 广东广州510275) : 本文主要探讨系统功能语法中有关语境的理论对翻译研究的启示和意义文章首 概述系统功能语言学的 语境理论, 揭示语境作为语言使用过程中的一个重要因素, 其本质在于决定语言的意义和功能; 它同语篇有 一种共存的关 系, 两者相互影响, 互为前提文章接下来按照系统功能语言学中对语境的划分, 结合具体翻译实例, 依次分析文化语境 情景语境以及上下文语境对翻译过程中原文和译文在语言表达形式的选择和体现方面所产生的影响文章最后指出, 语 境理论作为研究语言使用和功能的一个语言学理论范畴, 其对翻译研究和实践具有多方面的借鉴价值和启发意义 : 文化语境; 情景语境; 上下文语境; 翻译研究 Abstract:This a er argues that in order to make discourse analysis a licable to translation studies researchers need to screen discourse analysis in a more consistent w ay so t hat analysis wit h regard to Source Text and Target Text w ill be more translation- oriented rather than discourse-oriented. It w ill first review the a licat ion of discourse analysis to translation studies. And then by referring to a functional a roach to discourse analysis, it will indicate t hat a lication of ideas from discourse analysis both theoret- ical studies and em irical descri tions of translation de ends largely on the consistent follow ing of any given theory.
