There are always complex structures and strong power in his works which are apparently influenced by the famous southern writer, William Faulkner. As a southern writer, his works are provided with the characteristics of the south, but not restricted to the southern topics and themes and he is famous for diversification of styles. He is particularly good at unfolding the time features dramatically through different types of characters. Sophie‟s Choice is one of the most famous works of William Styron. Once published, the novel brought William Styron the American Book Award for fiction in 1980. In this novel, the writer reconstructed the history of Nazi Holocaust through narrating Sophie‟s life in Auschwitz and later in America. The novel also reflects some experiences of Stingo, the narrator of the story, who was instructed and thus grew up.
