Experiment Study on Diesel Engine Fueled with
Biodiesel and Diesel Fuel

Abstract: An experi ent on characteristics of co bustion, perfor ance and e issions was conducted on a four-cylinder
turbocharged inter-cooled diesel engine. The fuels used in the experi entwere diesel blendedwith 10% ( volu e percent) , 20%
and 30% biodiesel and pure diesel as well. Results showed that the equivalent brake specificfuel consu ption of blend fuelswas
al ost the sa e as that of pure diesel ; the in-cylinder axi al pressure and the pressure riserate of blend fuel were lower and
their ignition ti ing was laterthanthose of pure diesel; the NO and s oke e issions of blend fuels were lower than those of pure
x
diesel, while the HC and CO e issions of blend fuels were lower than those of pure diesel in 1500 r in, but higher in 2 300
r in.
