Abstract: A unified treatment of the broken-pair and quasiparticle formalisms arises from both the
existence of a non-unitary Bogoliubov-Valatin transformation and the identical structure of the
broken-pair and quasiparticle spaces.
1. Introduction
In the second paper in this series of three+, an intimate connection between the
broken-pair model (BPM) and the quasiparticle scheme (QPS) has been established.
