Die Schöne Müllerin reflects the true emotion and artistic feature of the musician. The thesis lays a theoretical and practical analysis for comprehending and singing the work in a proper way. It covers several aspects: it expatiates that how Schubert has been affected by his age and what he has achieved on the art song and it investigates the background of the original literary work of Die Schöne Müllerin as well as the dealing which Schubert has done to Wilhelm Müller’s original poetry. At the same time, the thesis analyzes the musical feature of the whole song cycle and excavates the special artistic conception, emotion depth as well as the inner connotation which are contained in the whole song cycle. Furthermore, the thesis discusses the singing features and requirements for art song and Die Schöne M üllerin. By annotating different singers, the thesis gives a more vivid and sensible image of Die Schöne Müllerin.
