Oingdao A- cademy of Agricultural Science ，Oingdao 266100 ，China ） Received 30 May 2006 ；revised 9 August 2006 Abstract ：On the basis of severai experiments carried out in China ，it was proved that both seaweed iiguid fertiiizer and rare earth （RE ）couid promote the growth of crops and increase their yieid. The effects of extraction from seaweed and its com- piex with RE on the degradation of organophosphorous pesticides and the yieid of vegetabies were investigated. The resuits showed that the extract and its compiex with RE couid degrade organophosphorous pesticides in neutrai soivent. The residues of the pesticides treated by the extract decreased by 96. 88% ，52. 30% ，49. 52% ，and 22. 88% ，respectiveiy ，for chior- pyrifos ，dichiorvos ，omethoate ，and dimethoate ，and those by the compiex decreased by 95. 99% ，54. 23% ，48. 79% ，and 25. 66% ，
