Abstract
Forthemarkede ct0flong-timeandlarge-scalewaterandsoilconservationworksinChina，theecol-
og、，Ofmanyriversbasin’sunderlyingsurfaceshasbeendefinitelyrestored；consequentlyquantitiesof
watersedimentespeciallysiltsedimentintotheriverrunoffhavereduced，andinadditionalongwith
theconstructionofmanywaterconservancyprojectsonhtemainstreamsandtributaries，thesediment
inthedownstream riverhasreducedsignificantly．Inthenew periodwitlItheadvanceofecologycivili-
za廿oncOnstructi0n．reductiontrendofsedimentintoriverscannotbereversed，sothatdataofwaterand
sedimentmeasuredinearlystagecannotreturnagain．Theymustberevisedaccordingtoht evariation
ofunderlyingsurfaceandthereviseddatawillbethebasisofriverharnessingplanning,projectdesign
andoperation．AccordingtohteuncorrecteddataofwaterandsedimentforhteYellow River,hteage
limitofsedim entpreventionoftheXiaolangdiReservoirispredictedtobe20yearsandtheerosionwill
begeneratedinht edownstream riverafter10·yearoperationoftheXiaolangdiReservoir．Inreality，af-
ter14．yearoperationofht eXiaolangdiReservoir,hteerosionofthedown stream riveriscontinuously
generated．andthequanfiyt ofsiltinthereservoirisonly40％ ofthesiltreservoircapaciyt．Accordingto
theuncorrecteddaat ofwatersedimentofrht eYangtzeRiver,quantitiesofincomings
