1. Memory game on video with the volume off. Students are shown images of items necessary to make a cup of tea and have to identify which are removed. (See 2 large images at end of section for paper-based version.) 2. Hand out worksheet A and complete gap-fill of present continuous verbs, watching first section of video only. Stop, rewind and replay as many times as needed to complete cloze activity. 3. Hand out worksheet B and re-sequence instructions. Watch second section of video to check answers. 4. Prepare some instructional texts and hand out worksheet C for students to evaluate the texts you have provided. 5. Create own gap fill of script. Among possible gaps are: time markers (next, now, then etc), vocabulary associated with food (milk, sugar) and imperatives. 6. Students listen to speech with picture turned off. They must mime the action being described. 7. Students choose an activity they are particularly familiar with and write a list of instructions for other students to follow. Test the instructions for accuracy if possible! 8. Student watch the video a few times for familiarisation then write a ‘voice over script’, performing to the rest of class and attempting to lip sync! Worksheet A.
