AshaLayne HowardUniversity，W ashingtonD．C．，USA LiteratureOildomesticviolence／IPV (intimatepartnerviolence)preventionamongadolescentshasfocusedtheir attentiononbehavioralandemotionalpatternsofabuseandthepredictorsassociatedwiththeseobservedpaRems． Thoughimportant，verylittleresearchinvestigatingtheroleofpreventionandtherateofIPV havebeenappliedto theadolescentpopulation．Usingmixed method research design，thispaperexamined thepreventivemeasures availableforvulnerablevictimsofdomesticviolenceinanEastcoastmetropolitanarea．Resultsfrom thisanalysis illustratedtheneedofrbettermeasurestolocateIPV adolescentvictimsandtoprovideservicestailoredspecifically f0radolescentvictims．Implicationsofrpreventionandinterventionraediscussed． Keywords：intimatepartnerviolence，prevention，adolescents Introduction ThenotorietyofIPV (intimatepartnerviolence)hasraisedgreatpublicconcem inrecentyearsasmore seriouscasesarebecomingheadlinenews．IPV hasbecomeanadultandadolescentissue，especiallywiththe increasedexposureofviolenceamongteenagersinrelationships．Inrecentyears，studieshavefocusedtheir attention on datingviolenceamongteens，becauseofitsability toleadto IPV amongadults．Inastudy on datingviolencevictimizationamongstudentsingrades7to12during1994-1995，the18-monthprevalenceof victimizationfromphysicalandpsychologicaldatingviolencewasestimatedat20％ (Halpern，2001)．Among adultvictimsofrape，physicalviolence，and／orstalkingbyanintimatepartner，22％ ofwomenand15％ ofmen firstexperienc
