Constructing Virtual Learning Environment With Streaming Media

Abstract
The paper discusses the construction of the virtual learning environment in E-learning with streaming media, and explores the strategies of building interactive environment. Some ways that is suitable for web-based interactive environment have been developed by software or hardware. For instructional application, the paper introduces three basic modes: Live streaming, courseware On-demand, and synchronized web-based teaching plans. In addition, some measures are made for improving interaction in E-learning in the paper, which include improving GUI with playlist or dynamic, synchronizing videos and other instructional information by capturing script command event and promoting communication. At the same time, the paper also provides a way to build interactive video.

1. Introduction
Besides the use of hypertext and hypermedia to link documents or multimedia information, audio and video is used to the Web-based teaching and learning, too. But the Quality of Services can’t be guaranteed. Due to the bandwidth restriction of the internet, most materials are limited to static texts or images. Streaming Media technologies is employed to solve this problem, and streaming media can be controlled or integrated into virtual classroom. [1] No like the business and commercial applications, distance education pays more attention to learning environment. When the E-learning environment has been built, characteristic of humanistic education in distance education has always been neglected. How to figure out it? The best way is to improve interactive between an instructor and learner(s) or between learners.
