SD 13-2 Academic Support Services Committee March 6, 2013For Action TO: Faculty Senate FROM: Academic Support Services Committee SUBJECT: Change in the Academic Calendar The Academic Support Services Committee proposes suggested modifications to the Academic Calendar. A couple of years ago Purdue Calumet synchronized the starting date of the fall semester with Purdue West Lafayette (Present Academic Calendar). We are proposing also synchronizing the starting date of the spring semester with Purdue West Lafayette. This change would have the following effects. Most years provide three weeks instead of the present four weeks break between the fall and spring semester. Allow for one of the following: one week instead of the present zero weeks break between the spring and summer semesters (Suggestion 1) three weeks break between summer and fall semester (Suggestion 2) Since the spring semester would be starting one week earlier we would also like a vote on keeping spring break after week eight or moving spring break to after week nine of the spring semester. Suggestion 1 with spring break after week nine would synchronize our calendar with Purdue West Lafayette. Approved: G. Hoover King, D. Kozel, M Mick, L Shen, D.
