Coil It is a good idea to check the tightness of the earth strap and the coil wire. If the earth strap comes loose this could give an intermittent misfire whilst driving, check the bolts holding the coil on are tight. On the blue older coils the spade connector attached to the coil can also come loose; you can make this tighter by crimping the spade with pliers to ensure a good tight fit. If this connector comes off whilst driving the kart will stop. Cont 2. Carburettor After 12 to 15 hours we have also noted that the brass clamp which holds the end of the throttle cable can become worn and in some cases can shear off. ACR now has replacement throttle shafts in stock but it’s a good idea to keep a close check of this part of the carburettor. The clamp can get excessive wear due to the throttle pedal not being set correctly on the throttle stop. All EasyKart’s supplied have the stop adjusted correctly, but over time the throttle cable can stretch or if the pedal is adjusted to a different position then the contact with the stop can be lost resulting in extra force on the throttle clamp and potential damage. To check the pedal is adjusted correctly, check to see if there is a gap between the pedal and the stop bolt. If there is then the adjustor bolt needs to be adjusting until contact is made with pedal. It is also important to check your cable is in good condition and moving freely with no cuts or grazes on the outer cable. If you replace the cable make sure the last bit of the wire is trimmed off for scrutineering. Cont Engine Servicing: It’s very important to try and keep a log of your engine running time.
