3AEI 1 MATHEMATICS-III 1 DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS: Ordinary differential equation of second order with variable co-efficients, Homogeneous form, Exact form solution when a part of C.F. is known, change of dependent variable, change of independent variable. Variation of parameters. Solution in series (without particulars integral). Partial differential equations of first order - Lagranges method standard forms, Charpits method. 2 NUMERICAL ANALYSIS: Finite differences - Forward, Backward and Central differences. Newtons forward and backward differences, Interpolation formulae, Stirlings formula, Langranges Interpolation formula, Differentiation Numerical Integration-Trapezoidal rule, Simpsons one third and three-eight rules, Numerical solution of ordinary differential equations of first order-Picards method, Eulers and modified Eulers methods, Millnes method and Runga-Kutta fourth order method. 3 STATISTICS AND PROBABILITY: Elementary theory of probability, Bayes theorem with simple, applications, Expected value, theoretical probability distributions-Binomial, Poilsson and Normal distributions. 4 FOURIER SERIES: Expansion of simple function in Fourier series.
