II Abstract Chinese economic has been growing rapidly since the economic reform. The income of both urban and rural residents increased and domestic demand also increase continually, but our consumption rate, the ratio of demand and GDP, decreased over the years, the driving effect of investment demand to economy becoming limited. The lack of consumption and the unreasonable structure of investment demand have been severe challenges to Chinese economy. The expending income gap and the unreasonable of income distribution system is the main reason to make domestic demand insufficient. We use empirical analysis mainly, combining normative analysis, comparative analysis and historical analysis. We build economic regression models to analysis historical data in empirical analysis. The results are as follows: Firstly, income gap expand make Chinas consumption rate lower and is the main reason to make consumption growth weakly. Compare with urban and rural areas, reducing income gap is the primary task to increase the consumption demand currently. While in order to improve rural consumption demand, raising the overall income level is more urgent. In consumption structure aspect, the income gap is not related to the consumption of basic goods, but has a negative correlation with the consumption of non-basic goods, that is the expanding of income gap reduce the totally consumption demand by reducing the consumption of non-essential goods.
