Composing existing services to obtain new functionality becomes essential for both business-to-business and business-to-consumer applications. Research on service composition has attracted many researchers’ attention. A lot of service composition methods were proposed. This paper gives an overview of the research on service composition methods. It divides those methods into two categories: business-process-driven methods and task-solve-oriented methods; and then introduces the current methods in details. Finally, it points out the future direction of service composition technology.
