TRAINING NEEDS ANALYSIS
Training needs analysis is a process gathering and interpreting data for identifying
performance problems and suggesting solutions. The challenge is to obtain complete and
accurate data.
This amounts to answering who, what, when, where and why.
A thorough training needs analysis exercise comprises six types of analyses.
These are context analysis of the business needs or other reasons that training has been
suggested; a user analysis dealing with potential participants and instructors involved in
the process; a work analysis of task being performed; a content analysis of documents,
laws, procedures used on the job; a training suitability analysis of whether training is the
solution; and a cost-benefit analysis of the return on investment (ROI) of training.
Real-world Scenarios

faced as a training manager, instructional designers, and training consultant or in another
role?
AVP is concerned about harassment in the workplace. The present course is out of date.
As a result, an instructional designer is engaged to rein the existing harassment awareness
