My Approaches to Promote Teaching Efficiency 　　【Abstract】 Promoting teaching efficiency is a matter of the utmost concern of all teachers. This paper focuses on the different approaches that the author adopts in her teaching. The ability to use a foreign language can only be improved through a lot of practice， which needs certain situations. Therefore we teachers should try to create authentic and vivid learning situations， in which students can participate to acquire a foreign language， to experience a sense of success through effective communication. There are many ways to create learning situations. I would like to introduce some practical ones. 　　（一）Using daily materials to create learning situations 　　Daily materials can attract students’ attention quickly and can help students to link the daily materials with their daily life. These daily materials include newspapers， magazines， ads， pictures， maps， film posters and so on. For example， Unit 5 Canada Module 3 New Senior English For China， the writing part asks students to write a report on Canada. Since the students have just learnt Li Daiyu and Liu Qian’s trip across Canada， it is not difficult for them to write the report. However I am afraid some students will just copy some sentences from the reading passage， what is more， none of my students have been to Canada， their impression of Canada comes from books， TV programs and magazines rather than their own experience. So I changed the task for my students. I asked my students to bring some pictures taken when there were on a trip. First I asked my students to tell their partners about the trip， for example， where did they go， what did they see there， any special thing happened during their tri
