Shenzhen City was taken for a case study, using the buffer analysis and the calculation of the urbanization effect index (UEI) to study the impacts of road pattern on land uses in rapidly urbanizing region, based on the analysis of road ranks and density. It was found that road pattern had remarkable impacts on land uses, and the impact extensions were different, which indicated that the main roadwas 1200m and subordinate road was 800 m. In the area of high road density itwas600m, the area ofmid density was 1200 m, andthe lowdensity zonewas 1000 m. The dominant impact of main roadswas the orchard, while the impact of subordinate roadswasthe industrial land. In the area of high road density, the main impact on land useswas the higher proportion of the construction land, while in the area ofmid road density was the industrial land, and in the area of low road density was the most of theforestry land. About 80% of thewhole city was impactedby roads, andthe noneffect zoneswere rare in Shenzhen, which could only befound in some mountainous area. Inth
