Forestry Bureau of Dayu County, Dayu 341500, China) 2 Abstract: The planting density expermi ent consists of four density treatments: 1 20 trees/hm , 2 475 2 2 2 trees/hm , 2 925 trees/hm , and 3 510 trees/hm . The density expermi ent stands of Ch inese firw ere investi gated in N anling h illy area of h igh site index stands. The resu lt of the expermi ent show ed that the d ifferent density levels mi pacted the natural th inn ing, the average diameter, the volum e and radio of height to d iam e ter; therew as no sign ificant effect on the dom inant height and average height. The stands volume increased w ith the increase of stand age, w ith the increase of stand density, but the stand density had no significant effectw hen the standsw ere old enough. K ey
