Abstract Contrast induced nephropathy is a common and potentially serious complication of the use of contrast media, especially in the patients with pre-existing renal impairment. Although today there is a better understanding of the disease, the incidence does not appear to have demonstrably changed. With the lack of treatment options and lack of agreement for therapeutic prevention strategies, it is clear that identification of patients at high risk is essential. The purpose of this article is to provide an overview of the importance and the recent understanding of contrast induced nephropathy so as to assist referring physicians understanding of the identification and management of patients at high risk for contrast nephropathy. Rezumat Nefropatia de contrast reprezint? o complica?ie frecvent? ?i important? determinat? de administrarea substan?elor de contrast, care apare ?n special la pacien?ii cu afectare preexistent? a func?iei renale. De?i la ora actual? reprezint? o entitate bine cunoscut? ?i mult studiat?, inciden?a nefropatiei de contrast este nemodificat? semnificativ. ?n lipsa unor metode terapeutice particulare ?i a unei profilaxii medicamentoase terapeutice, este evident c? identificarea pacien?ilor cu risc reprezint? metoda cea mai important? de limitare a morbidit??ii dat? de nefropatia de contrast. ?n lucrarea de fa?? sunt prezentate principalele aspecte clinice necesare pentru ?n?elegerea nefropatiei de contrast, ?n scopul de a sprijini identificarea pacien?ilor cu risc de c?tre speciali?tii care propun efectuarea investiga?iilor cu substan?e de contrast.
