Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811 - 1896)
I. The brief introduction of Stowe
Harriet Beecher Stowe was an American abolitionist and author, who was born into a respectable family, the seventh of thirteen children. She was influential both for her writings and her public stands on social issues of the day.
Sources of her works: Stowe said she based the novel on a number of interviews with people who escaped slavery during the time when she was living in Cincinnati, Ohio, across the Ohio River from Kentucky, a slave state.

III. The analysis of Uncle Tom’s Cabin
Her anti-slavery novel Uncle Toms Cabin (1852) was a depiction of life for African-Americans under slavery. When the novel appeared, it was an overnight success. It reached millions as a novel and play, and became influential in the United States.
The plot of the story
The book related the trials, suffering, and human dignity of Uncle Tom, an old Negro slave.

Part 2 Elizas family escape, Toms life with St. Clare;
