I will never forget the things that happened to me on 6th June 1944. I was part of the invasion force at the D-Day landings. I’ll never forget the sound of the artillery shells as we approached the beach in France. Next we had to jump into the water. It was cold, but fortunately not too deep. When we reached the beach I was terrified. The German soldiers were shooting at us and there were not many places to hide. I remember seeing many of my friends killed and wounded. We then tried to get off the beach by running left and right. It was difficult with a heavy pack. And I’ve never forgotten how relieved I felt when I got to the first sand bands and could rest for about twenty minutes. I was with a group of about seven other soldiers from my company. The first thing we saw when we got off the beach was another company, so we joined that, and started the long fight to Paris. I will never forget the things that happened to me on 6th June 1944. Write a paragraph about your own personal memories. Choose one of the topics.
