Lead-in Show a picture about Halloween and ask the students: Which festival is it? How do people celebrate it? Do you want to know? Step 2. Presentation Present the new words with some pictures. Then read the new words. Step 3. Fast reading Read the letter as quickly as you can and tell us who wrote it and who received it? (It’s from Wendy to Millie.) Tell them not to read all the letter, just read the beginning and the end. Step 4. First reading Let the students read the letter fast and answer the two questions: (1) When is Halloween? (It’s on October 31st.) (2) What costume will Wendy wear? (A tiger costume.) Step 4. Second reading Ask the students to read the article carefully and underline all the things that people do for Halloween in the letter. They can discuss in pairs. What do people do for Halloween? (1).
