(一)On teaching material
1. Introduction to the teaching material
This unit looks at some of the health issue facing young people in China today:smoking,HIV/AIDS,and appropriate behaviour at parties,discos,nightclubs etc where alcohol or drugs may be present.Some of these topics may challenge traditional beliefs and values of some students and parents.

2.The function of this lesson in the unit
This reading passage provides information about what HIV/AIDS is, how it is contracted and how to protect oneself from getting the disease. The text is in the form of an information poster. It is the aim of this passage to provide accurate,sensitive information to students so that they do not put themselves at risk out of ignorance and so that those who already suffer from the disease can be seen in a more sympathetic way.
3. Teaching goals

Enable the Ss to get some basic knowledge about HIV/AIDS.
3) Learning ability goals
Help the Ss learn how to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and what they can do to help persons with HIV/AIDS.
4) Moral goals
By learning this part,the students can not only understand some knowledge of AIDS,but also learn how to protect themselves and treat the AIDS patients with love.
4. Teaching important points
Get the students to know in what way the HIV virus is spread.
