There be的语法形式及引导的特殊句型 汉中市委党校 王 珂 在函授《英语》第一册中,讲到这样一个语法点,就是“there is (are )+名词词组”的结构.它常常用来表示“什么地方(存在)有什么人或物.”这里的there只起引导作用,引出这一结构.is (are )是谓语动词,后面的名词是主语。There is后接单数名词,There are后接复数名词.由于我们在这一册中还要学习英语的其它时态,所以there be的结构不仅仅是一般现在时的时态,还有一些其他的时态形式。在实际应用中还有一些特殊的句型结构. There be的时态形式. There is a new school in our neighbourhood . (一般现在时) 在我们这个地区有一所新学校. There was half a tankful of petrol in the car yesterday . (过去时) 昨天在这辆小车里有半罐汽油. Next year there will be 300 pupils at the school . (将来时) 明年在这所学校里将有300名学生. There have always been wars in the world . (现在完成时) 世界上一直有战争. There had been a leak in the chemical container before it exploded . (过去完成时) 爆炸之前,在化学反应罐里一直有渗漏. There must be peaceful answers to the world’s problem . (情态动词) 对世界问题一定会有和平的答案. 注：㈠there在下列句子中的作用是不同的。一是作副词，另一是作引导词。 Put it there . 你把它放在那里。 ﹙there作副词﹚ There is a policeman here . 这里有一个警察。 ﹙there是引导词﹚ ㈡这种句型中的主语是非限定的，不可用the ,this ,that ,these ,those等词修饰，不可用“all ∕every +名词”作主语。如： There is a man at the door. ﹙对﹚ There is the man at the door . ﹙错﹚ There are all the books in the case . ﹙错﹚ There was everyone in the room . ﹙错﹚ 二．主语的修饰语 在there be的结构中，作主语的名词词组还带有其修饰语，常见的修饰语如下： ⒈There is a man with a red cap at the door . ﹙介词短语﹚ 在门口有一个戴着红帽子的男人。 ⒉There is a car ready for us . ﹙形容词﹚ 有一辆为我们准备的车。 ⒊There is no one waiting outside . ﹙动词-ing短语﹚ 外面没有人在等着。 ⒋There was a ship sunk last night . ﹙动词-ed形式短语 ﹚ 昨天晚上有一艘沉船。 ⒌There is nothing to blame . ﹙不定式） 没有什么要责备的。 ⒍There are some people（that）I’d like you to meet . ﹙形容词从句） 有一些人我想让你见一见。 三．There be 的一些特殊句型 ⒈there being和there to be ⑴“there being ”是指there句型中的be采用动词-ing形式。“there being ＋名词词组”一般出现在书面语中，可以用作状语和介词的宾语。例如： A .There being no further business, the meeting closed at 11：30. 因为没有别的议程，会议在11：30就结束了。 B .John was relying on there being another opportunity . 约翰指望还有另一次机会。 注：在“v ＋for ”结构中，for后面用there to be作宾语。例如： John waited for there to be another opportunity . 约翰等待有另一次机会。 ⑵“there to be ”和“for there to be ”是there句型中的be采用不定式形 也是书面语。“
